Benefit Highlights

Trip Cancellation

Can reimburse your nonrefundable, pre-paid Trip payments/deposits, up to the amount insured (up to the maximum), if cancellation occurs before your scheduled departure because of covered reasons detailed in the plan. These covered reasons may include illness, injury, death, strike, and weather.

Trip Interruption

Can reimburse (up to the maximum) your non-refundable prepaid and unused land or water Trip payments when your Trip is interrupted after departure because of covered reasons by the plan. Coverage may include reimbursement for additional transportation expenses to join or rejoin the Trip or to return home.

Travel Delay

If your trip is delayed 12 hours or more due to covered reasons, you can be reimbursed for certain additional expenses, up to the maximum benefit amount. Covered reasons may include carrier-caused delays, lost passport, strike, and the weather.

Missed Connection

The plan can reimburse you up to a maximum of $1,500, for certain expenses including additional transportation costs and reasonable accommodations if you miss your cruise or tour departure because your arrival at the Trip Destination is delayed 3 or more hours due to a covered reason.

Reimbursement of Miles & Rewards

If you cancel your trip for a covered reason, benefits can be paid up to $75, for any penalty cost of depositing the miles or rewards back in the account from which they were removed. This will not duplicate any benefits paid under the Trip Cancellation benefit.

Accident & Sickness Medical Expense

Can pay for covered medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered Injury or Sickness first occurring on your Trip, up to the plan maximum. Included are related medication expenses and emergency dental treatment while on the trip.

Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation and Return of Remains

Among other benefits, if adequate medical treatment is not available in the immediate area, this covers transportation expenses incurred to transport you to the nearest adequate medical facility or home in order to treat a covered Injury or Sickness which is acute or life threatening. All evacuations require advance notification to the Worldwide Travel Assistance Center.

Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver

All plans contain an exclusion for pre-existing conditions. The Pre-Existing Condition exclusion is waived, provided you:

  1. Purchase the plan within 21 days of the date your initial trip payment/deposit is received;
  2. Insure all prepaid trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions;
  3. Insure within 21 days of payment or deposit for the cost of any subsequent travel arrangements added to your trip; and
  4. Are not disabled from travel at the time the plan is purchased.

Optional Cancel/Interruption for Any Reason Upgrade

(CFAR is not available to residents of NY. IFAR is not available to residents of NY and WA.)

These benefits are available at an additional cost and can pay up to 75% of your prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable payments/deposits for the covered trip. These benefits are not offered to insureds who book trips with non-refundable trip costs that exceed $150,000.

The Cancel/Interruption for Any Reason (CFAR/IFAR) Upgrade must be purchased at the time of your original plan purchase. In order to be eligible, you must 1) purchase this optional coverage within 21 days of the date your initial trip payment/deposit is received; 2) insure the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid trip arrangements; 3) insure the full cost of any subsequently booked trip arrangements within 21 days of the payment/deposit for those additional arrangements; and 4) pay all non-refundable trip costs prior to cancelling your trip. CFAR will not apply unless the trip is cancelled at least 2 days prior to the scheduled departure date. IFAR will not apply unless you interrupt your trip 48 hours or more after your actual Departure Date. Consult the Plan Document for details.

If any travelers reside at a different address, a separate plan must be purchased.

COVID-19 is treated the same as any other sickness for purposes of all coverages that are triggered by a sickness or that can reimburse losses resulting from a sickness – including deaths caused by sickness.

The same limitation and exclusions that apply to all claims also apply to claims related to COVID-19, including the Exclusion for Pre-existing Conditions

Fear of contracting the coronavirus alone is not a covered reason for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption coverage. However, if your plan includes either or both Cancel for Any Reason or Interruption For Any Reason coverages, benefits would be payable (subject to the standard rules that apply to these coverages).
