Frequently Asked Questions

If I cancel my trip, can I cancel my travel protection plan?

This plan comes with a 30-day Free Look period. If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may cancel this plan within 30 days from the date of purchase by providing USI Travel Insurance Services the cancellation notice. We will refund your plan cost provided there has been no incurred loss, you have not departed on your trip or filed a claim under this plan. Once the plan has been cancelled, all coverages under this plan are invalid from the beginning.

If the dates of your trip change, contact USI Travel Insurance Services to adjust your plan accordingly.

When should I buy my plan?

You may purchase the Plan as early as 15 months in advance or as late as 24 hours before your scheduled departure date. However, in order to be eligible for the Early Purchase Advantages (Cancel For Any Reason optional upgrade, Interruption For Any Reason optional upgrade and Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion Waiver), you must purchase your plan within 21 days of the date your initial trip deposit is received. Even if you don’t buy your plan within the Early Purchase 21-day window, it benefits you to buy your plan as early as possible; your plan is effective the day after you purchase, meaning you would be eligible for Trip Cancellation benefits.

How do I calculate my trip cost?

Add together all pre-paid, non-refundable expenses for yourself and all others who are traveling with you. This may include: admission to parks, event tickets, vehicle rental, camping or hotel accommodations, etc.

My friend and I are going to be traveling together. Am I covered if my friend cancels their trip?

In this case, your friend would be considered a Traveling Companion as defined by the plan. If your friend cancels their trip for a reason covered in the plan, Trip Cancellation would apply for you. Your friend does not need to be on your plan for this to apply.

If I make changes to my trip (trip cost, number of people, dates, etc.), what do I need to do?

If you make any changes to your trip, please contact USI Travel Insurance Services as soon as possible to update your plan. Call us at 1-800-937-1387, Monday-Friday 9am-7pm Eastern Time.

What if I can’t take my trip due to a natural disaster (flood, wildfires, hurricane, etc.)?

If a natural disaster causes a mandatory evacuation preventing you from traveling to or arriving in your scheduled destination, coverage for Trip Cancellation may apply, in which case you may be reimbursed up to 100% of your pre-paid, non-refundable trip costs.

I’m traveling with several friends and staying in a rented house. Do we each need to buy a plan to be covered?

No, only one plan is required. Plans provide coverage per reservation (up to 10 individuals allowed per plan), rather than per person. Plan rates are determined per reservation according to total trip cost.

Does the coverage include rental vehicles as well as personal vehicles?

Yes, the coverage includes covers both rental and personal vehicles.

I’m driving with my family to a campsite. Would this plan be applicable?

Yes. When calculating your trip costs, be sure to include your costs for attractions, event tickets and any other pre-paid non-refundable trip costs.

Will this plan cover me if I am diagnosed with Covid prior to or during my trip?

Coverage for Covid-19 is not excluded on the plan, so depending on the circumstances, you may have coverage if you’re diagnosed by a physician with Covid-19 prior to or during your trip. Covid-19 is treated like any other illness under the plan, so coverage may apply for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Emergency Medical Expense and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

Does coverage inside the U.S. include Hawaii and Puerto Rico?

Yes, coverage includes travel in Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

If I need assistance while I’m traveling or if I have a question about coverage or claims, who do I call?

If you need assistance at any point during your trip, including questions about coverage or filing a claim, call the assistance company, On Call International, at 1-833-425-5104 (toll-free in the U.S.) or 1-603-952-2051 (anywhere in the world, collect). You can also email them regarding an emergency at mail@oncallinternational.com.
